Prof. Dr. Rob M.P. Goverde is Professor of Railway Traffic Management & Operations and Director of the Digital Rail Traffic Lab at Delft University of Technology. He has an MSc in Mathematics from Utrecht University (1993), a Professional Doctorate in Engineering (PDEng) in Mathematical Modelling and Decision Support from Delft University of Technology (1996), and a PhD in Railway Transport from Delft University of Technology (2005). He has more than 20 years of research experience in railway traffic systems, including railway timetabling, traffic management, train control and signalling. His expertise includes operations research, optimal control and data analytics. He is the author of more than 150 peer reviewed papers, and supervisor of 13 PhD students and 50 MSc students. He is the coordinator of the Shift2Rail project MOVINGRAIL. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Rail Transport Planning & Management, Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, board member of the International Association of Railway Operations Research (IAROR), and Fellow of the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE).
